CBR1100XX-X
BY Salad Dodger
BIKES | September 13, 2001

Bought new, December 1st 1999.

Not much to say, yet, except that it's very stable, stops on a sixpence, and goes like polished poo off a chrome shovel, and it's still running in. Gawd knows what it goes like above 6k.

It was a toss up between this, and the X-11, but the latter is even uglier in real life, than it is on paper, and about as comfortable.

Linda reckons the pillion provision is better than the CBR1000, which was always good.

I've had a Givi Wingrack fitted, for practicality, and it's been alarmed(Veto Evo), and datatagged.

A further security measure is provided in the form of HISS - Honda Ignition Security System. The ignition key has a transponder, which is interrogated by the fuel injection computer. Incorrect response, no startee uppee. Which is nice.

No choke is a novelty, and no carbs to ice up, either.

The finish, in Candy Glory Red, is up to Honda's usual standard. Black wheels are a sensible idea, too.

All it needs now is a hugger, and warm, dry days, and I'll be as happy as a pig in sh*t.

A year later, it now has Promotive Diamond Cans, a hugger, Scottoiler, and a bubble screen. It's still comfy, fast, well mannered and totally reliable. The motor is an absolute gem, power from 3k, lots from 6k, and shedloads from 8k. It trundles perfectly happily at 30, the mirrors are good, the brakes excellent. I haven't noticed an issue with the linking yet, maybe I'm not a "real" biker.

I love it to bits; any bike that wheelies off the throttle, and pulls an alleged 135 in 3rd is okay by me.
