Can You Identify The Vehicle, Sir?
BY bear
Clues | June 22, 2002

I got the call late on Friday night, having just got in from a hard day's dispatching: one of our number had had a *big* off, having gone head on with an idiot in a cage, and was in Bromley A&E with a busted arm and various minor contusions ... the cager was in a much worse state, and serve him right; he'd attempted an impossible overtake in traffic and got what he deserved.

Chris & I were asked to go to the police pound, and identify the bike in question and to possibly fill out the various forms Kent plod insisted upon in those days ... and so we went.

The Vehicle Pound sergeant was very helpful, but our mate's bike (A Suzuki GSX 1100, the naked one, EFE?) had not yet appeared ... he asked us for a description of said bike, and of the accident ... I started to explain and describe, but was halted by Chris' hysterical laughter ...

Turning, I saw an unreal sight: a Volvo 340 was being brought in on the back of a low-loader, and, perfectly framed, was a GSX1100, its nose embedded in the engine bay, sticking out at an angle of about 45 degrees over the bonnet ... the desk sergeant turned, looked, then pissed himself.

"I guess that's the one then lads..."
