Arai Maverick
BY Bear
KIT | September 18, 2001

Similar design and appearance to the Rapide "F", but cheaper and with fewer vents. Arai have got themselves a reputation as the best maker of lids and frankly it’s 100% deserved; I’d have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone, so long as your head is Arai shaped, which mine is. It’s comfy, the lining hasn’t altered shape, shrunk or got manky in the 18 months or so I’ve had it. The shell is almost unmarked, despite clumsy bear accidentally bashing it on things, and all the bits and pieces work fine, apart from one vent which I bashed on the ceiling beam at Sarratt and broke off. It is noisy, but then you should all be using ear plugs for any journey over 10 minutes anyway, and with plugs in it’s fine. A comfier, better sealed lid I have never seen … there’s no question my next lid will be an Arai. The Rapide is lighter, has more vents and is even better.
